Laser Therapy For Your Pet
The low-intensity lasers we use work by stimulating cells in the body to help the patient heal. The laser works by a mechanism called photobiostimulation: which means that it causes cell regeneration, decreases in inflammation, and therefore, a quicker healing process.
This type of therapy is completely non-invasive and involves beams of light directed at the area of concern on the patient’s body for a few minutes. Interestingly, it is not uncommon for pets to fall asleep during their laser therapy session, as the light beams feel warm.
Older dogs and cats who suffer from arthritis are most commonly treated with laser therapy because of the huge benefits pets with arthritis see with reducing pain. Some other conditions that can be treated with laser therapy include:
- Tendon/ligament tears
- Inflammation
- Post-surgical pain
These examples are only some of the things laser therapy treats, as the process uses the body’s own healing mechanisms. In fact, it is common for clients to see a notable improvement in their pet’s mobility.
